베툴라와다를 신봉하는 촐라족 비구. 스리랑카 왕실의 총애를 얻어 마하세나 왕을 설득해 대사원에 대한 지원을 끊고 로하파사다를 해체하게 했으나, 왕이 등을 돌린 후 결국 암살당했다.

A Coḷa monk and adherent of the Vetullavāda who won royal favour in Sri Lanka, persuaded King Mahāsena to strip the Mahāvihāra of support and dismantle the Lohapāsāda, and was eventually assassinated after the king turned against him.

아소카왕의 딸이자 마힌다의 누이로, 오빠와 함께 출가하였고 훗날 보리수 가지를 가지고 배로 스리랑카에 건너가 그곳에 비구니 승단을 세웠다.

Daughter of Asoka and sister of Mahinda, who was ordained together with him and later sailed to Sri Lanka with a branch of the Bodhi tree to establish the nuns’ Order there.
