사왓티(Sāvatthi)의 바라문 가문 출신 아라한 장로. 숲속 승원에서 명상으로 아라한과를 얻은 후, 함께 편안히 지내자는 친척들의 간청을 거절하고 홀로 지내기를 택했다.
