遍歴行者ウッガーハマーナが、真に勝利した沙門とは身口意で悪をなさず、非難の余地なく生計を立てる者に過ぎないと主張する経典で、仏陀はこの定義では無力な赤子さえ沙門になってしまうと指摘して退け、真の成就とは聖なる八正道の体得と完全な智慧と解脱であると説く。

A discourse in which the wanderer Uggāhamāna claims that a truly triumphant recluse is simply one who commits no evil in deed, speech, or thought and earns a living blamelessly, a definition the Buddha dismisses by noting it would make even a helpless infant a recluse, before describing genuine attainment as mastery of the Noble Eightfold Path together with full knowledge and deliverance.
