물고기와 새들에게 바다가 마를까 봐 물을 너무 많이 마시지 말라고 경고하는 탐욕스러운 물까마귀를 겁주어 쫓아내려고 무서운 형상을 취하는 바다 정령(보디삿타)에 관한 자타카로, 그 까마귀와 동일시되는 사캬족 우파난다의 큰 탐욕과 관련하여 이야기되었다.

A Jātaka about a sea-spirit, the Bodhisatta, who assumes a terrifying shape to frighten off a greedy water-crow warning fish and birds not to drink too much lest they empty the sea — told with reference to the great greed of Upananda the Sakyan, identified with the crow.
