牛の子牛と雌ライオンの子が離れがたい遊び仲間として育つが、餌を期待する策略家のジャッカルが彼らと友達になり互いに敵対させ、両方の動物の死を招いたというジャータカで、陰口の癖に対する警告として六人組の問題児比丘たちに説かれた。

A Jātaka about a cow’s calf and a lioness’s cub who grow up as inseparable playmates until a scheming jackal, hoping for food, befriends them and turns them against each other, leading to both animals’ deaths, told as a warning to the group of six troublesome monks against the habit of back-biting.
