ชาดกเล่าเรื่องลูกวัวและลูกสิงโตที่เติบโตเป็นเพื่อนเล่นที่แยกกันไม่ออก จนกระทั่งหมาจิ้งจอกเจ้าเล่ห์ผู้หวังอาหารเข้ามาผูกมิตรและยุยงให้ทั้งสองแตกคอกัน จนนำไปสู่ความตายของสัตว์ทั้งสอง เล่าเป็นคำเตือนแก่กลุ่มภิกษุฉัพพัคคีย์ผู้ก่อความวุ่นวายมิให้นินทาลับหลัง

A Jātaka about a cow’s calf and a lioness’s cub who grow up as inseparable playmates until a scheming jackal, hoping for food, befriends them and turns them against each other, leading to both animals’ deaths, told as a warning to the group of six troublesome monks against the habit of back-biting.
