  • 実際には単なる戒律に過ぎないブッダの秘密の「魔法の呪文」だと信じたものをひそかに学ぶために一時的に僧団に入った遍歴行者で、脱退後は発見を吹聴したが、ブッダに公然と問い質されると自らの虚偽の主張を弁護できなかった。

  • A wanderer who briefly joined the Order in order to secretly learn what he believed was the Buddha’s secret ‘magic formula’—actually just the monastic code—and, after leaving to boast of his discovery, was publicly and silently unable to defend his false claims when challenged by the Buddha.
