한쪽은 도적들 사이에서, 다른 쪽은 암자에서 따로 자란 앵무새 형제의 본생담으로, 상반된 본성 때문에 한 마리는 왕의 살해를 꾀하고 다른 한 마리는 왕을 구하며, 데바닷타의 부처 살해 시도와 관련하여 설해졌다.

A birth story of two parrot brothers raised apart, one among robbers and one in a hermitage, whose contrasting natures lead one to plot a king’s murder while the other saves him, told in reference to Devadatta’s attempt to kill the Buddha.
