一则本生故事：菩萨作为被推翻囚禁的波罗奈王，对篡位的敌王生起强烈悲悯，致使敌王身受剧痛，菩萨遂释放并归还其国土。

A Jātaka in which the Bodhisatta, as an imprisoned king of Bārāṇasī, develops such compassion for the enemy who overthrew him that the enemy’s body suffers great pain, leading the Bodhisatta to free him and restore his kingdom.

一则本生故事：菩萨为国师之子，后于喜马拉雅出家修行，儿时挚友即位为王后遣大臣塞耶迎他回朝任国师，菩萨婉拒了这一荣耀。

A Jātaka in which the Bodhisatta, son of a royal chaplain, becomes an ascetic in the Himālayas and, though his boyhood friend the king sends the minister Seyya to fetch him back as chaplain, refuses the honour.
