一則本生故事：菩薩作為被推翻囚禁的波羅奈王，對篡位的敵王生起強烈悲憫，致使敵王身受劇痛，菩薩遂釋放並歸還其國土。

A Jātaka in which the Bodhisatta, as an imprisoned king of Bārāṇasī, develops such compassion for the enemy who overthrew him that the enemy’s body suffers great pain, leading the Bodhisatta to free him and restore his kingdom.

一則本生故事：菩薩為國師之子，後於喜馬拉雅出家修行，兒時摯友即位為王后遣大臣塞耶迎他回朝任國師，菩薩婉拒了這一榮耀。

A Jātaka in which the Bodhisatta, son of a royal chaplain, becomes an ascetic in the Himālayas and, though his boyhood friend the king sends the minister Seyya to fetch him back as chaplain, refuses the honour.
