일반적으로 하부 버마와 동일시되는 나라로, 제3차 결집 말미에 장로 소나와 웃따라가 왕가의 어린아이를 잡아먹던 바다 악귀를 먼저 쫓아낸 뒤 불교로 개종시켰다.
