A monk also called Paṇḍita Udāyī to distinguish him from another monk of similar name, son of a brahmin of Kapilavatthu, who became an Arahant and composed verses in praise of the Buddha comparing him to a magnificent elephant.

A brahmin who asked the Buddha whether he ever approved of sacrifice, to which the Buddha replied that he condemned only sacrifices involving the killing of animals.
