තනිකම කෙරෙහි බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගේ ප්‍රියතාවය හෙළා දුටු සැක සහිත තපස්විද නායකයෙකු, නොසැලකිලිමත්ව අසුවී ඇති බව හඳුනාගත් පසු උන්වහන්සේ ඇතුළට ආරාධනා කරන චාරිකා උද්‍යානයක දේශනා කරන ලද දේශනාවකි; ආත්ම වේදනාවේ ගුණාගුණ හා උන්වහන්සේගේ ධර්මයේ සැබෑ අරමුණ ගැන සාකච්ඡා කිරීම අසා, අනුගාමිකයෙකු නොවී ප්‍රශංසාව පළ කරයි.

A discourse taught at a wanderers’ park in which a skeptical ascetic leader who had disparaged the Buddha’s fondness for solitude invites him in after being caught off guard, hears him discuss the merits and flaws of self-mortification and the true purpose of his teaching, and expresses admiration without becoming a follower.
