コーサラの一地方および町で、パセーナディが用事で訪れて仏陀に拝謁し『カンナカッタラ経』を聴聞した場所であり、遊行者アチェーラ・カッサパも『大獅子吼経』に記されるように仏陀に会いに来た場所である。
