一則本生故事，講一位婆羅門囑咐兒子須將他火化於未被賤民玷汙之地，父子二人尋覓途中遇見一位聖潔的苦行者，苦行者揭示這同一處地點其實早已是他一萬四千次火化之地，藉此教導超越生死之道，此故事是佛陀講給一位林居沙彌的。

A Jātaka about a brahmin who instructs his son to cremate him only at a spot untouched by outcasts, and who, while searching for such a place with his son, encounters a holy ascetic who reveals that this very spot has already seen his cremation fourteen thousand times before, using the revelation to teach the path beyond death, told by the Buddha to a forest-dwelling novice.
