웃타라마두라의 왕 마하사가라의 아들로, 형 사가라의 부왕으로 있다가 후궁 문제로 의심을 받아 도망친 뒤 우파캄사에게 몸을 의탁하고 데와갑바와 사랑에 빠져 결혼하여 그녀와 함께 악명 높은 안다카웬후 형제들을 낳았다.

Son of Mahāsāgara, king of Uttara-Madhurā, who as his brother Sāgara’s viceroy fled after being suspected of a harem intrigue, took refuge with Upakaṃsa, fell in love with and married Devagabbhā, and fathered with her the notorious Andhakaveṇhu brothers.
