उरुवेला में रहने वाले तीन तेभातिक-जटिल तपस्वी भाइयों में सबसे बड़े, जो पाँच सौ शिष्यों का नेतृत्व करते थे और बुद्ध द्वारा उनके अग्नि-पूजित सर्प को वश में करने तथा अनेक चमत्कार दिखाने के बाद बुद्ध की शिक्षा में परिवर्तित हो गए।

The eldest of the three Tebhātika-Jaṭilā ascetic brothers living at Uruvelā, who led five hundred disciples and was converted to the Buddha’s teaching after the Buddha overcame his fire-worshipping serpent and performed numerous miracles.
