幼い息子の死後、悲嘆のあまり狂乱してさまよったヴェーサーリーの女性で、ミティラーで仏陀が彼女を落ち着かせて教えを説くと、出家して間もなく阿羅漢となった。

A woman of Vesāli who, driven mad with grief after her young son’s death, wandered until the Buddha calmed and taught her at Mithilā, where she was ordained and soon became an Arahant.
