在家弟子 Vāseṭṭha 向佛陀提議，若其親族友人皆能持守八關齋戒當是善事，佛陀表示贊同，並說若樹木也能持戒豈不更好。

A discourse in which the lay disciple Vāseṭṭha suggests to the Buddha that it would be good if his kinsmen kept the eightfold uposatha, and the Buddha agrees, adding that it would be good if even the trees observed it.
