JātakaA Jātaka about a king’s prized horse desperately loved by a she-ass, who nevertheless rebuffs him out of pride when he finally visits her and later dies of unfulfilled longing, told to a landowner of Sāvatthi whose own beloved rejected his advances on his one visit and then died of the same grief.
