王の秘蔵の馬に絶望的に恋する雌驢馬が、彼がついに訪れたとき誇りから彼を拒み、後に叶わぬ恋の思いから死んだというジャータカで、舎衛城（Sāvatthī）の地主に説かれた。彼自身の恋人も一度だけの訪問で彼の求愛を拒み、同じ悲しみで死んだ。

A Jātaka about a king’s prized horse desperately loved by a she-ass, who nevertheless rebuffs him out of pride when he finally visits her and later dies of unfulfilled longing, told to a landowner of Sāvatthi whose own beloved rejected his advances on his one visit and then died of the same grief.
