ชาดกเล่าเรื่องม้าอันเป็นที่รักของพระราชาที่ลาตัวเมียหลงรักอย่างสิ้นหวัง แต่นางกลับปฏิเสธเขาด้วยความหยิ่งเมื่อในที่สุดเขามาเยือน แล้วนางก็สิ้นชีวิตด้วยความอาลัยที่ไม่สมหวัง เล่าให้เจ้าของที่ดินแห่งสาวัตถีฟัง ผู้ซึ่งคนรักของเขาเองปฏิเสธการเข้าหาในการมาเยือนครั้งเดียวแล้วสิ้นชีวิตด้วยความเศร้าโศกเช่นเดียวกัน

A Jātaka about a king’s prized horse desperately loved by a she-ass, who nevertheless rebuffs him out of pride when he finally visits her and later dies of unfulfilled longing, told to a landowner of Sāvatthi whose own beloved rejected his advances on his one visit and then died of the same grief.
