沼地に住むカラス、菩薩の下僕であるカラスが、自分の役目を放棄して自ら魚を捕らえようとして溺死するジャータカで、デーヴァダッタが仏陀を真似ようとした企てにちなんで語られ、デーヴァダッタをその溺死したカラスに同定する。

A Jātaka about a marsh crow, the Bodhisatta, whose servant crow drowns after abandoning his role and trying to catch fish himself, told in reference to Devadatta’s attempt to imitate the Buddha, with Devadatta identified as the drowned crow.
