오늘날의 벵골로 비정되는 방가족의 나라로, 칼링가 왕과 결혼하여 시하바후와 시하시왈리의 조모가 된 방가 공주의 모국이며, 『밀린다왕문경』에는 바닷길로 도달할 수 있는 무역항으로 기록되어 있다.
