यह सुत्त बताता है कि अपने गुरु निग्रोध कप्प की मृत्यु के बाद वंगीस बुद्ध से पूछते हैं कि क्या गुरु ने अंतिम मुक्ति पाई, और बुद्ध एक पद्य में इसकी पुष्टि करते हैं; यह प्रसंग निग्रोधकप्प सुत्त के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।

A discourse in which, after his teacher Nigrodha Kappa’s death, Vaṅgīsa asks the Buddha whether he attained final liberation, and the Buddha confirms it in a poem, this being the encounter also known as the Nigrodhakappa Sutta.
