師ニグローダカッパの死後、ヴァンギーサが仏陀に師が最終解脱に達したか尋ね、仏陀が詩で確認したという経典で、この出来事はニグローダカッパ・スッタとしても知られる。

A discourse in which, after his teacher Nigrodha Kappa’s death, Vaṅgīsa asks the Buddha whether he attained final liberation, and the Buddha confirms it in a poem, this being the encounter also known as the Nigrodhakappa Sutta.

阿羅漢果を得た直後、祇園精舎で比丘ヴァンギーサが唱えた一連の詩句で、仏陀の弟子となったことを喜ぶ内容である。

A set of verses spoken by the monk Vaṅgīsa at Jetavana shortly after attaining Arahantship, in which he rejoices at having become a disciple of the Buddha.
