스승 니그로다캅파가 죽은 뒤 방기사가 부처님께 스승이 최종 해탈에 이르렀는지 여쭙자 부처님이 게송으로 확인해 주셨다는 경으로, 이 일화는 니그로다캅파 숫타로도 알려져 있다.

A discourse in which, after his teacher Nigrodha Kappa’s death, Vaṅgīsa asks the Buddha whether he attained final liberation, and the Buddha confirms it in a poem, this being the encounter also known as the Nigrodhakappa Sutta.

아라한과를 얻은 직후 기원정사에서 비구 방기사가 읊은 게송들로, 부처님의 제자가 된 것을 기뻐하는 내용이다.

A set of verses spoken by the monk Vaṅgīsa at Jetavana shortly after attaining Arahantship, in which he rejoices at having become a disciple of the Buddha.
