තම ගුරු නිග්‍රෝධකප්ප මිය ගිය පසු, වංගීස උන්වහන්සේ බුදුන් වහන්සේගෙන් ගුරුවරයා අවසන් විමුක්තියට පත් වී ඇත්දැයි විචාරන අතර, බුදුන් වහන්සේ ගාථාවකින් එය තහවුරු කරති; මෙය නිග්‍රෝධකප්ප සූත්‍රය නමින්ද හැඳින්වේ.

A discourse in which, after his teacher Nigrodha Kappa’s death, Vaṅgīsa asks the Buddha whether he attained final liberation, and the Buddha confirms it in a poem, this being the encounter also known as the Nigrodhakappa Sutta.

රහත් ඵලයට පත් වූ නොබෝ කලකින් ජේතවනයේ දී වංගීස භික්ෂුවන් වහන්සේ පැවසූ ගාථා මාලාවකි, එහි ඔහු බුදුන් වහන්සේගේ ශිෂ්‍යයෙකු වීම ගැන සතුටු වෙයි.

A set of verses spoken by the monk Vaṅgīsa at Jetavana shortly after attaining Arahantship, in which he rejoices at having become a disciple of the Buddha.
