A monk of Vesāli who, disgruntled at a noisy city festival, was rebuked in verse by a woodland spirit for spurning forest life and, taking the lesson to heart, developed insight and attained Arahantship.

自らも阿羅漢果を得た後、ブッダの入滅後にある詩偈を発し、それがまだ有学であったアーナンダを自らの阿羅漢果へと後押しする助けとなった、リッチャヴィ王族出身の僧侶。
