Sāvatthi のバラモンで、仏の姿に魅了され主にその姿を眺めたい一心で出家したが、法を見ることこそ真に重要であると仏に教えられた後、阿羅漢果を得た。

A brahmin of Sāvatthi who, captivated by the sight of the Buddha, became a monk chiefly to gaze upon him, and who attained Arahantship after the Buddha taught him that seeing the Dhamma is what truly matters.

Padumuttara 仏の時代に信仰において第一であることを志した比丘、あるいは前項に述べたバラモン出身の比丘の阿羅漢果と死を語る経の名のいずれか。
