迦毗罗卫婆罗门 Vacchagotta 之子，出生于森林之中，因喜爱林居生活而得此名，早于佛陀成道前便已出家苦行，后加入僧团并在林中证得阿罗汉果。

Son of the brahmin Vacchagotta of Kapilavatthu, born in the forest and named for his love of woodland life, who left the world before the Buddha’s Enlightenment and attained Arahantship there after joining the Order.

王舍城一位富裕婆罗门之子，目睹佛陀造访频婆娑罗王一事后出家，不久证得阿罗汉果，即便亲族劝他就近而居，仍偏爱林中独居的生活。

Son of a wealthy brahmin of Rājagaha who joined the Order after witnessing the Buddha’s visit to Bimbisāra, soon attained Arahantship, and preferred the solitary life of the forest even when kinsmen urged him to live nearby.
