迦毗羅衛婆羅門 Vacchagotta 之子，出生於森林之中，因喜愛林居生活而得此名，早於佛陀成道前便已出家苦行，後加入僧團並在林中證得阿羅漢果。

Son of the brahmin Vacchagotta of Kapilavatthu, born in the forest and named for his love of woodland life, who left the world before the Buddha’s Enlightenment and attained Arahantship there after joining the Order.

王舍城一位富裕婆羅門之子，目睹佛陀造訪頻婆娑羅王一事後出家，不久證得阿羅漢果，即便親族勸他就近而居，仍偏愛林中獨居的生活。

Son of a wealthy brahmin of Rājagaha who joined the Order after witnessing the Buddha’s visit to Bimbisāra, soon attained Arahantship, and preferred the solitary life of the forest even when kinsmen urged him to live nearby.
