यह सुत्त, जिसे अग्गिकभारद्वाज सुत्त भी कहते हैं, तब कहा गया जब भिक्षाटन के दौरान एक ब्राह्मण ने बुद्ध को नीच जाति का कहकर अपमानित किया, जिसमें बुद्ध बताते हैं कि व्यक्ति को नीच या सच्चा ब्राह्मण उसके कर्म बनाते हैं, जन्म नहीं।

A discourse, also called the Aggikabhāradvāja Sutta, given after a brahmin reviles the Buddha as an outcaste while he sought alms, in which the Buddha explains that it is one’s deeds, not one’s birth, that make a person an outcaste or a true brahmin.
