අවන්තියේ නගරයකි, නන්ද කුමාරපුත්‍රගේ උපන් ස්ථානයයි. එහිදී මහා මොග්ගල්ලාන හා සැරියුත් හිමියන් නන්දමාතාගේ සත්කාරයට ලක් වූහ. එහි බලකොටු වටා සිටුවන ලද ඝන බට වන නිසා මෙම නම ලැබූ බව කියැවේ.
