බුදුන් වහන්සේගේ උපත, බුද්ධත්වය හා පිරිනිවන් පෑම යන සියල්ල සිදු වූ බව සම්ප්‍රදායානුකූලව සලකන, ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ රජවරුන් විසින් දිගු කලක් තිස්සේ උත්සවයකින් සමරන ලද අප්‍රේල්/මැයි මාසයයි.
