Placeシッダッタ仏の時代の都市。首長として治めていた兄弟二人が、仏陀が近くの園へ向かう道に残した足跡をたどって自らそこへ赴き、説法を聞いて阿羅漢となった。
A city in the time of Siddhattha Buddha. The Buddha, being there, made his way to the pleasance (amaruyyāna) of the city, leaving his footprints to show his path. The two chiefs of the city, Sambahula and Sumitta, brothers, seeing the footmarks, went themselves to the pleasance, and having listened to the Buddha’s teaching became Arahants (BuA.186).
