Araka Jātaka
Jātakaආරක නම් බ්රාහ්මණ පුත්රයෙකු වූ බෝධිසත්ත්වයා ගැන ජාතක කතාවකි; හිමවතේ සතර බ්රහ්ම විහරණ ඉගැන්වීමෙන් ප්රසිද්ධ තාපස ගුරුවරයෙකු වූ අතර, මරණින් පසු කල්ප හතක් බ්රහ්ම ලෝකයේ ඉපදුනි — මෙත්ත සූත්රය හා සම්බන්ධයෙන් කියැවේ.
The Bodhisatta was once born in a brahmin’s family and was named Araka; when he grew up he embraced the religious life and lived in the Himavā as a teacher with a large following. He taught his pupils the value of the four sublime abidings (brahmavihāra). After his death he was born in the Brahma-world and remained there for seven aeons.
The story was told to the monks at Jetavana in reference to the Mettā Sutta (J.ii.60-2).
