Aṭṭhasadda Jātaka
JātakaChuyện Jātaka Đức Phật kể để đáp lại nỗi kinh hoàng của vua Pasenadi khi nghe tiếng kêu của chúng sinh trong địa ngục, kể về một vị vua Bārāṇasī xưa nghe tám âm thanh kỳ lạ lúc nửa đêm khiến ông khiếp sợ, cho đến khi Bồ Tát chỉ ra rằng chúng đều có nguyên nhân hoàn toàn tự nhiên.
Taught at Jetavana. Pasenadi, having heard one night a cry uttered by four inhabitants of hell, sought the advice of the Buddha (The story is given in full in the Lohakumbhi Jātaka; J.iii.43 f).
The Buddha tells him of a former king of Bārāṇasī who, when seated on his bed at midnight, heard eight unusual sounds which frightened him until they were shown by the Bodhisatta to be quite natural. J.iii.428-34.
