Buddhasaññaka
PersonEin Arahant, der zur Zeit des Buddha Vipassī eine erdgebundene Gottheit war, die beim Erdbeben zum Zeitpunkt von Buddhas Tod dessen Größe erkannte und ihn innerlich ehrte; später war er ein König namens Samita und ist wahrscheinlich identisch mit dem Ältesten Meghiya.
An Arahant. In the time of Vipassī Buddha he was an earth bound deva, and when, at the death of the Buddha, the earth trembled, he realised the Buddha’s might and honoured him in his heart. Fourteen world-cycles ago he was a king named Samita (Ap.i.151 f). He is probably identical with Meghiya Thera. ThagA.i.149 f.
