Bāhitika Sutta
Sutta一經講述阿難為波斯匿王解說何為無可指責的身、語、意行——即不使自己、他人或雙方受苦的行為——國王感佩之餘贈以一件貴重披風,阿難隨後又將此披風轉獻給佛陀。
Taught by Ānanda to King Pasenadi at the Aciravati river.
While riding his elephant, the king sees Ānanda returning from almsround in Sāvatthi. The king sent a messenger to ask him to wait if he is not busy, then invites him to a spot on the banks of the Aciravati river, which is nearby. The king questions Ānanda on the bodily, verbal, and mental behaviour that is blameless, and Ānanda replies that it is behaviour that does not lead to the affliction of others, of oneself, or of both.
After the talk, the king offers to Ānanda an expensive cloak (bāhitaka) so fine that it can be concealed inside an umbrella handle. Ānanda reports the conversation to the Buddha, and offers the robe to him. The Buddha praises Ānanda, saying how fortunate King Pasenadi was to have a conversation with him. M.ii.113 ff.
