Catudvāra Jātaka

Jātaka

四つの門があるように見えた地獄で苦しむ運命にあったミッタヴィンダカにちなんで名付けられた、彼の物語を語る本生話。

Contains the story of Mittavindaka.

The Jātaka probably derives its name from the fact that the Ussada-niraya, where Mittavindaka was destined to suffer, looked like a city with four gates, surrounded by a wall.

For the introductory story see the Gijjha Jātaka.

The story is sometimes called the Mahā Mitta-vindaka Jātaka, e.g., J.i.363; iii.206.
