Daṇḍakārañña

Place

ダンダキー王の罪によって荒廃した後カリンガを覆った森で、ゴーダーヴァリー河に沿って広がり、中国とデカン高原を隔てている。

The forest that overgrew Kāliṅga when it was laid waste through the wickedness of King Daṇḍakī(q.v.) (M.i.378; Mil.130).

It was on the banks of the Godāvarī and, with the Viñjhātavi, separated the Majjhimadesa from the Dakkhiṇāpatha. It probably comprised all the forests from Bundelkhand to the river Krishna.
