PersonDaughter of King Mahākaṃsa of Asitañjana who, imprisoned in a single-pillar tower after a prophecy that her son would destroy Kaṃsa’s line, secretly conceived and later married Upasāgara, bearing the ten notorious Andhakaveṇhu brothers and a daughter, Añjanadevi.
Daughter of Mahākaṃsa, king of Asitañjana. It was predicted that her son would destroy the lineage of Kaṃsa; she was therefore imprisoned in a room built on a single pillar. With the help of her serving woman, Nandagopā, she entered into an intrigue with Upasāgara, whom she afterwards married.
They had ten sons — the notorious Andhakaveṇhudāsaputtā — and one daughter, Añjanadevi (J.iv.79 ff; PvA.99 ff).
