Dubbalakaṭṭha Jātaka
Jātakaヒマヴァーで捕らえられ後に調教師から逃げ出した象が常に恐怖の中で暮らしていたところ、樹木の精霊であった菩薩がその恐れを取り除いてやったという話で、常に死を恐れる比丘になぞらえられ、その比丘は象の前世とされる本生話。
Once an elephant, caught in the Himavā, while being trained by the king’s trainers, broke away from his chains and escaped to the mountains. There he lived in a constant state of terror until the Bodhisatta, who was a tree-sprite, dispelled his fears.
The story was told in reference to a monk who was always in fear of death. He is identified with the elephant. J.i.414-6.
