Guttā
Person사왓티의 브라만 가문 여인으로, 재가 생활을 혐오하여 부모의 동의를 얻어 마하빠자빠띠 고따미 문하로 출가했다. 오랫동안 마음을 집중하는 데 애를 먹었으나 붓다의 격려로 아라한과를 얻었다.
She belonged to a brahmin family of Sāvatthi; when she reached adolescence household life became repugnant to her owing to her dependence (upanissaya), and, with her parents’ consent, she entered the Order under Mahāpajāpatī Gotamī. For a long time she could not concentrate her mind, but, encouraged by the Buddha, she attained Arahantship. Thig.vv.163-8; ThigA.157 f.
