Silāyūpa Sutta
SuttaUn discours dans lequel Sāriputta dit aux moines que l’esprit d’un moine totalement libéré ne peut être submergé par les objets des sens, le comparant à un pilier de pierre profondément enfoncé que le vent ne peut ébranler, enseigné après un différend avec Caṇḍikāputta sur les enseignements de Devadatta.
Sāriputta tells the monks that when a monk is wholly freed, objects, sounds, scents, etc., that come within the range of his senses, cannot overwhelm his mind. It is like a stone column sixteen cubits ¹ (kukkuka) long, one half of it buried in the ground, which cannot be shaken by the wind.
The sutta was taught as the result of a conversation between Sāriputta and Candikāputta regarding the teachings of Devadatta. A.iv.402 f.
Sāriputta contradicts the explanation given by Candikāputta regarding the teaching of Devadatta.
