금이 빛나는 것을 막는 불순물을, 마음을 유연하지 못하게 하고 번뇌를 끝내기에 부적합하게 만드는 다섯 가지 오염 — 감각적 욕망, 악의, 혼침과 졸음, 들뜸, 의심 — 에 비유하는 경.

Due to five impurities, gold is not malleable, doesn’t shine, and is unsuitable for making into ornaments. What five? Iron, copper, lead, tin, and silver.

Due to five impurities, the mind is not malleable, does not shine, and not concentrated for the destruction of the corruptions. What five? Corrupted by sensual desire, ill-will, sloth and torpor, restlessness, and doubt. S.v.91.
