Person낏띠시리라자시하 왕의 요청으로 스리랑카에서 구족계를 재건하기 위해 파견된 태국 승려 대표단의 단장으로, 그곳에서 큰 존경을 받았으며 결국 불치병으로 사망하였다.
Head of the chapter of monks sent from Thailand, at the request of Kittisirirājasīha, to re-establish the higher ordination (upasampadā) in Sri Lanka. He was held in great esteem by the king of Sri Lanka and often taught him. Upāli died in Sri Lanka of an incurable disease of the nose, and his funeral obsequies were held with great solemnity.
