Vāseṭṭha3
Person선인 와셋타(Vāseṭṭha)의 후손으로 여겨지는 바라문 씨족으로, 높이 존경받았으며 꾸시나라(Kusinārā)와 빠와(Pāvā) 두 곳의 말라족이 공유했다.
Name of a clan (gotta), probably tracing its descent to the sage Vāseṭṭha (Skt. Vasistha). In the Mahāparinibbāna Sutta (D.ii.147, 159) we find the Mallā of Kusinārā addressed as Vāseṭṭhā, as well as the Mallā of Pāvā (D.iii.209). It was a clan held in esteem (ukkaṭṭha), e.g., Vin.iv.8.
