一则本生故事，讲商人们先带去一只乌鸦，因当地本无飞鸟而被视为稀罕之物用以寻找陆地，备受珍视，后来又带去一只华丽的孔雀，售价高出十倍，乌鸦因此彻底遭人冷落，独自栖息于垃圾堆上，此事用以说明自佛陀出世以来，昔日的外道大师如何尽失往日光彩。

A Jātaka about merchants who bring first a crow, prized as a land-finding novelty in a country with no birds of its own, and later a magnificent peacock which fetches ten times the price and eclipses the crow entirely, leaving it neglected on a rubbish heap, told to illustrate how rival teachers lost all their former glory once the Buddha appeared in the world.
